Keller Williams 2012 RED DAY Food Drive

WHAT IS RED DAY?
RED Day (Renew, Energize and Donate) is an initiative dedicated to celebrating Keller Williams Realty’s year-round commitment to improving our local communities. Each year, on the second Thursday in May, tens of thousands of associates from across the United States and Canada participate in a wide range of projects, devoting our time to renewing and energizing aspects of the neighborhoods in which we serve.

Again this year Keller Williams West Sound will be collecting food items for the Fish Food Bank in Gig Harbor (Out of the area? Please make a food donation to a local food bank in your neck of the woods).  On May 10th we will be compiling all donated items and will be sponsoring a Community Food Drive at our office on Burnham Dr. (see attached flyer).  Please feel free to stop by with your food items or contact me to coordinate a pick-up.  Questions? – Give me a call!

A Recipe for Memorable Summers.

What's the recipe for an exciting summer filled with creating memories?  Start with the sparkling waters of Vaughn Bay, add an updated stylish home, sprinkle with dynamic views, add an abundance of water activities to taste, and top with deep water moorage.  Embellish with Northwest sun filled blue skies or the sparkling evening stars.  Mix gently then sit back and enjoy for a lifetime.
Here’s your opportunity to own a waterfront home with deep water moorage on majestic Vaughn Bay.  This 3 bedroom, 3.25 bath 2976 sq. ft. home is fully updated and makes the best of the spectacular views of the Bay from most rooms.  Boating enthusiasts will love the deep water moorage and buoy already in place.   Decks on each level provide great spaces for entertaining or just to sit back, relax and take in the surrounding beauty.  Priced at $465,000 (that’s only $156/sq. ft.) homes of this caliber with deep water moorage are rare and hard to find.
Feel free to send this to anyone you know who would like to live on one of the best bays for water activates in the area.

Gig Harbor Ranked #5 In Smithsonian Best Small Towns in America

Back in February I posted that Gig Harbor was chosen as the #1 Harbor Town in the US by Costal Living Magazine.  By itself this is quite an honor to be chosen as the #1.  But read on, it gets better; Smithsonian Magazine has named our town as #5 in the ‘Best Small Towns in America’.  Click here to read the entire article on Gig Harbor, or see the other towns that make up the Top 20.  We all know how great this area is, but our little slice of paradise is getting some great press lately.  The Smithsonian sums it up nicely with the Gig Harbor Headline reading; 'Take numerous art galleries. Add sailboats and local wines. Stir. Enjoy'.

A Park System for the Community

A vital part of any community is a park system that welcomes area residents for relaxation, activities and enjoyment.  PenMet Parks has been instrumental in providing, improving and expanding these services to Gig Harbor and, through a partnership with Key Pen Parks, the Key Peninsula.  PenMet Parks now owns over 600 acres of land that are currently, or in the planning stages, for community services and use.  From a meager beginning of seven parks they have successfully acquired additional properties to now total twenty-one owned parks for community enjoyment.  Citizens of the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula area are fortunate to have a park system that lives up to their Mission Statement:  “The mission of the Peninsula Metropolitan Park district (PenMet Parks) is to enhance the quality of life on the Gig Harbor peninsula by providing park and recreational opportunities for all of its citizens.”
Thanks to PenMet Parks there are many facilities where you can enjoy the beauty of the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula.  For additional info, history, services provided and a map of parks check out their web page at PenMetParks.org.  Now get out there and start your adventure.

Local Author Book Signing

In addition to all the amazing beauty and culture we know and love, the Gig Harbor and the Key Peninsula are also fortunate to have many talented authors who call this area home.  Congratulations to KK Hale, a transplant from Seattle but now a local resident, who has just had her first novel published; Rory McBreen Video Wars: Vietnam.

Please join KK Hale on May 5th at MostlyBooks, located in Gig Harbor at 3126 Harborview Drive, from 11AM to 1PM to autograph and chat about her first book in a planned series about a kid who loves his video games more than anything – or anyone – in the whole world.

The story begins as Rory has an entire day planned out playing vids as usual, and forgetting he is part of the real world.  He prefers the world inside his video games.  All his friends are there, and things make sense.  He doesn’t have to do anything but perform his duties so his teams can win.  Today something different happens.  Rory is still on the team, but now he’s on the inside, fighting with his team with bullets whizzing by his ears.  But being with them side-by-side isn’t as fun as he had always imagined.  In fact, it could be deadly.

What happens to a real kid inside a video game of programmed characters who are programmed to fight in a war?  Rory is about to find out.

Rory McBreen Video Wars: Vietnam is available on Amazon.com
